Press release regarding the visit of the genocide sites in Auchwitz and SrebrenicaJanuary 26, 2020
The Scandinavian Council for Relations (SCR) participates in the historic visit with the delegation from the Muslim World League and a group of religious leaders from around the world to the extermination camp in Auschwitz, Poland; where more than two million people were killed, 90% of them Jews, besides 150,000 Poles, and 23,000 Romanis, and 15,000 Soviet prisoners of war, and dozens of other nationalities. The Council also participates in a visit to the genocide scene in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, which ended the lives of more than 8,000 Muslims in 1995. This visit comes in solidarity with the victims of these horrific massacres, and a rejection of all manifestations of injustice and persecution against anyone, individual or group, anytime or anywhere in the world, regardless of race, gender, religion or nationalism. The Council affirms that what unites us is humanity and that the main cause of all conflicts and disputes that the world is experiencing today is discrimination and racism that lead to extremism and thus to violence and terrorism, resulting in such terrorist massacres. Through its mission (communication for peace), the Council has worked to combat these negative ideas and actions through its various activities that focus on dialogue and understanding with everyone to disseminate the values of peace, love and tolerance for safe and coexisting societies.
