Corona Pandemic and its impact on houses of worship

April 10, 2020

SDN
8th April 2020.
Mosques assumed their religious, moral and national responsibilities. They had acted immediately after the appearance of corona virus in our Scandinavian Countries. Then, they made their decision to close before it was imposed by local governments. Even though they know the loss caused by this closure because most of the mosques are rented and rely mostly on contributions, donations and charities to secure the establishment of activities and maintenance of their sites .After the closure of these mosques due to this pandemic and the absence of its regular worshippers and participants of its activities .These mosques are threatened with permanent closure in the near future unless the concerned(relevant) authorities react to save this important part of the multicultural, interfaith and ethnic society.
The crisis has demonstrated the importance of temples, churches and mosques that belong to the Scandinavian citizens of these three monotheistic religions through their active participation in implanting precautionary decisions and directives to limit the spread of the Corona Virus.
In addition to the assistance of the leaders and preachers of these religions in their different places of worship through their piece of advice and guidance in channels as well as social media continuously and regularly. Moreover, the crisis has an economic impact on these places of worship. Thus, this cooperation may be considered as a gesture of reconciliation between these institutions, the media and the political circles since the meeting of the Prime Minister Mr. Stephen Leuven with the leaders of the institutions that belong to these monotheistic religions and others. We return to solving the crisis of places of worship through some proposals that are the following:
1-Including economic packages- which countries have adopted to support the public and the private sector _houses of worship and religious institutions are included as well .At least during crisis because we believe that these later must depend on themselves through endowments and investment projects to support themselves because we reject that they are dependent on society and particularly the governments.
2- Forming national committees from these institutions and places of worship to coordinate and cooperate in giving spiritual services to Scandinavian Citizens, each one according to his belief and sect .Meanwhile, these committees communicate with the concerned (relevant) authorities and require them to bear the effects on religious institutions and places of worship.
